Pastors … We Got Work!

The facts indicate that many jobs have been lost over the past year or so…causalities of the pandemic we are told…. there is no work for many…. nothing to do. However, in the kingdom of God…there is always work to do and you will always have a job…a great job that has an eternal benefit!

Too many of us are preoccupied with our financial and material and physical well-being. What we are going to wear, what we are going to eat, where we are going to live and when is this Coronavirus going to let me get back to my “normal” life? We find ourselves distracted and asking Him for houses and cars and vacations…we even quote “faith is the substance of things hoped for” (Heb 11:1) but the things we have in mind are material and temporal possessions rather than eternal things.

In the midst of our 2021 challenges, we must be willing to go into the greed-ridden highways of this corporate American system and into the dens of iniquity of our inner cities and even the deceitful utopias of suburbia and compel people to come to the Lord. We consider the many opportunities that God has given us to serve and meet needs during this time. Do you and I recognize that we have a job to do? Every Christian has a job and ultimately it is the same job…go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matt 28:19-20). God has given us different talents, experiences, and skillsets but, everyone must be willing to deny themselves, utilize what they have been given, and do the work.

You see, there is no unemployment or underemployment in this Christian service…there is enough, plenty, and more than enough work for everyone.
