Who do you say that I am?  In Mathew 16:15 the disciples reported to Jesus what the people were saying about Him.  Jesus responded with a question full of dynamite.  In fact, it is still a powerful question posed to us today.  It is debated like our lives depend on it and in some respect our life truly does depend on it.

Many religions in the world have posed an answer to this question.  Hinduism views Jesus as being one of many Gods.  The Islamic religion acknowledges Jesus as being a prophet but not God.  Buddhism believe that Jesus was a wise important and holy man but he was not divine and not God.  The Jehovah Witness believes that Jesus was Michael the chief angel but certainly not God.

As a believer we must be able to communicate in word and deed who Jesus is.  Some said that he was Elijah the prophet.  There were others who said he is John the Baptist raised from the dead.  Jesus was so excited that Peter answered “You are the Son of the Living God”.

What about us today?  Who do we say Jesus is?  In the midst of a deadly virus, the redefining of marriage between a man and a woman, the killing of unborn babies and a world full of injustice.  Who do we say Jesus is?  More importantly, Who do you say Jesus is?  The only answer that gives us hope is “You are the Christ the Son of the Living God”.
